About this app

A notes app with no cloud — and an AI that connects straight to it.

MCP Notes and Tasks is a fast, private notes-and-tasks app for your phone. There is no server behind it, no account to create, no subscription, and no company sitting between you and your data. Everything lives on your device and answers only to you.

What makes it new is the part you don't see: the app has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server built in. Switch it on, and the AI assistant you already use — Claude, or any MCP-capable client — connects directly to the app over your own Wi-Fi and can read, create, update, search, and complete your notes and tasks on your command. The app ships no AI of its own and sends nothing to anyone; it simply hands the model you bring a set of safe, typed tools. The intelligence is yours, the data is yours, the connection is yours.

What the app does on its own

  • Notes with a real WYSIWYG editor — bold, italic, underline, lists, headings, links.

  • Tasks with due dates, reminders, recurrence, importance, and categories.

  • A home-screen widget, fast search, and reminder notifications.

  • Works fully offline, forever. The AI is optional — the app is complete without it.

Switch on the MCP server — your network, your rules

  1. Open the MCP screen and start the server. It binds to your local network only.

  2. It's protected by a PIN you set (the AI uses it as its access token) and, when you turn on encryption, a self-signed TLS certificate you can install or verify by fingerprint.

  3. Point your AI client at the address shown and connect. From then on, plain language becomes action: "add milk to my shopping list," "what's due this week," "turn these notes into tasks," "mark the dentist task done." Infinite possibilities, because the assistant you choose is the one doing the thinking.

For extra security, the MCP server runs only while the app is open — close the app and the server stops, no matter what.

Nothing is sent to any server the whole time — the AI talks to the app, on your phone, on your network, under your PIN.

Maximum privacy by design. No ads. No accounts. No analytics backend. No sync cloud. Your notes and tasks never leave your device on their own — the only thing that ever reads them is the AI client you deliberately connect, over a local, PIN-protected, optionally encrypted link. Turn the server off and the door is simply closed.

Bring your own assistant. Keep your own data. That's the whole idea.

On-device notes & tasks. Connect any AI over MCP — nothing leaves your phone.

Sometimes fails with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." On both contact and calendar sync. This problem is caused by empty objects in Outlook (I think it may be an Outlook problem). This issue could do with more diagnostic information in the log to identify the corrupt records. The problem can be fixed by deleting all contancts and calendar information form the phne. Then using a tool like Go contact Sync Mod to sync Outlook with Google. This will show up the corrupt records. When you can successfuly syn between Google and Outlook you can then switch back to Local Sync with no problems. Still the best Outlook - Android sync out there.

I love LocalSync! This is/was the best way to sync with my PC and Outlook over USB. LocalSync 2.1.0.0 has been happily and successfully transfering data from Android 6 Marshmallow on a Moto Z Droid Force synching with version 1.9.2.0 on my PC until yesterday when there was an OTA update to Android 7 Nougat. Now I receive the message "LocalSync does not support this version of Android" when I try to open the android app. Maybe the developer of this wonderful app just needs to enable or approve use of LocalSync with Android 7 and/or our devices in the app store to work?

Thank you for review, Local Sync notes does not create any files in My Files Folder, does not create snb files, Local Sync app creates only internal files that you cannot access with other applications. You have probably mistaken Local Sync Notes app with some other app.
