🏯 THE NINJA HOUSE
Ninja houses (ninja yashiki) were built full of tricks: revolving walls, hidden doors and secret passages. This dial is the inside wall of one, in black lacquer and gold: a hanging scroll with a crouching ninja painted in gold, two shuriken and a kunai driven into the pillars, and a round gold-rimmed opening onto a mechanical movement.

⚙ THE HIDDEN MOVEMENT
Through the opening at six o'clock, four gears of a mechanical movement turn in a meshing train, in smoked brass and steel.

🌀 THE REVOLVING DOOR
Once a minute, on the minute, a round lacquered door swings across the opening and turns a full circle on its axis, like the donden-gaeshi doors of a ninja house, before the gears show again.

💨 THE VANISHING NINJA
Just before each minute the ninja in the scroll vanishes in a puff of smoke, and his shadow dashes across the opening. Ten seconds later he is back in the scroll. Three times a minute his eyes catch the light.

✴ SHURIKEN
At half past each minute a shuriken flies in and sticks in the pillar, quivering. A small shuriken spins at the tip of the seconds hand.

🖌 THE TIME IN BRUSH
The time is written in sumi brush numerals on the scroll, above the ninja, and follows your watch's 12/24-hour setting.

🎨 COLOURS
Three dials: Kin (Gold), Gin (Silver), Akagane (Copper). The scroll, the fittings, the window rims and the hour track change together; the black wood, the steel and the ink stay. Kunai hands in four metals: Kin (Gold), Gin (Silver), Shu (Vermilion), Kurogane (Black Steel).

⌚ COMPLICATIONS
- Left window: battery, with a ring that fills as the battery does
- Right window: steps
Both can be changed to another source, and the text comes in four colours: Kin (Gold), Gin (Silver), Shu (Vermilion), Kohaku (Amber).
