About this app

What is Satellite Finder (Dishpointer)?

This Android dish-alignment tool helps you choose a satellite and find the direction needed to point a satellite TV antenna. It combines your location with phone sensors to calculate pointing guidance, helping you prepare an installation or adjust an existing dish.

Use the direction and map guidance as an aid while you work at the dish. It supports planning and alignment; it does not replace a receiver, signal meter, or a clear view of the sky.

Who is Satellite Finder (Dishpointer) for?

This tool is for people setting up a satellite dish, realigning an antenna, or checking the direction toward a selected satellite. It can help home users, hobbyists, and installers organize the pointing process before fine-tuning the dish and checking reception.

It is useful when you need a satellite finder, dish pointer, or satellite director that explains the target direction on your phone. Results depend on your location, selected satellite, and device sensors.

What does Satellite Finder (Dishpointer) do?

• Select a satellite: choose a target from the available satellite list for your location.
• Calculate pointing guidance: view azimuth and alignment values used to aim the dish.
• Use compass tools: follow compass and gyro-compass guidance while turning toward the target direction.
• View satellites in AR: use the camera-based augmented-reality view to visualize satellite positions.
• Explore live maps: switch between Normal, Hybrid, Satellite, and Terrain map views when considering an installation area.
• Find BISS keys: use the in-app BISS key finder where the feature is available.
• Check your setup: compare the guidance with your dish position, receiver readings, and surroundings before completing alignment.

How does Satellite Finder (Dishpointer) work?

Turn on GPS or location services and, if you use AR view, grant camera access. Select a target satellite. The app uses your location to calculate direction and your phone's sensors to display azimuth guidance.

Hold the phone steadily and follow the compass or gyro-compass indication while positioning the dish. Open AR view to see the satellite direction through the camera, or use a map view to assess the installation area. Calibrate the compass if the reading appears unstable, and keep magnetic objects away during measurement.

After pointing the dish, use your receiver or a separate signal meter to fine-tune reception. Readings can be affected by calibration, magnetic interference, device hardware, location accuracy, obstructions, and weather. App guidance is not a guarantee of signal, channel availability, or reception quality.

Compatibility and requirements

The app requires location services and a working compass or compatible motion sensors for azimuth guidance. Camera access is needed only for augmented-reality view. Devices without these sensors may show limited guidance.

For better results, use GPS outdoors or near a window, keep the phone level, and calibrate its compass. A clear line of sight, stable dish mount, and compatible satellite equipment are also needed for reception. Map and satellite information may require internet.

The app contains ads and offers in-app purchases. The Play listing reports possible sharing of device or other IDs with third parties, encryption in transit, no data collected, and that data cannot be deleted. Disclosures may vary by region or version.

Privacy

The privacy policy describes personal and non-personal information, including technical, device, and usage details, and advertising partners may receive information for personalized advertising. Location and camera access support related features when enabled.

Permissions required:
- Location access is needed to determine your position and calculate satellite dish direction.
- Camera access is needed to take pictures and record video when using the augmented-reality satellite view.
Satellite Finder PRO assists to align dish, AR display and biss key finder.

Your response is just a generic corporate reply. I calibrated my phone's compass properly, enabled high-accuracy GPS, and waited for over 10 minutes, but your app kept showing a completely wrong direction for Yahsat 52.5°E (pointing way too far to the right). I am an experienced user and eventually aligned the dish perfectly on my own without any app. Your app is full of ads but completely useless for actual satellite tracking. Fix your direction algorithm so you don't waste other people's valu.

The AR display is not stable in my phone Samsung M30S upgraded now to Android 10. The equator line and satellites on them jump rapidly and is difficult to focus. It seems to work well in my other phone Motorola One power. I dont know if it is a sensor issue in M30S or the software itself. Other than that, the software is fine.

Great app, app features include most of satellite channels, select your favorite channel and rotate your device (phone) left to right for signal strength and quality. The beep sound shows perfect direction for your satellite 🛰️📡 dish. I like this app. ciao
