John H Lee

John Herald Lee came to national prominence as a writer and storyteller over three decades ago with his bestselling book The Flying Boy, an autobiography which has sold more than a quarter million copies, as well as screen rights which has been filmed and is soon to be released in theaters. Oprah was one of the first to host Lee helping to catapult his first trailblazing book to the Best Seller List. Hundreds of radio talk shows, including PBS and NPR soon followed, making him known internationally as one of the early pioneers in the Men's Movement, Recovery Field, Relationships, Anger Management, and Creativity. Now 23 books later and two national bestsellers, this is Lee's time to bring his down-to-earth voice to poetry, which at times is grounded in love, love lost, nature, and even the mysterious comings and goings of the people, places, and things that no one can predict will come into a life. In his elderhood John Herald Lee finds himself committed to his love of poetry, which has him turning inward to reflect on his early adulthood and golden years to come. I THOUGHT GETTING OLD WOULD TAKE LONGER explores Lee's childhood fears and joys; memories of youth's insecure journey; love magically found in adulthood that was fulfilled and forsaken, while longing for places, people and moments remembered in dreams but no longer obtainable. Lee bravely touches his own pain points, grieves for what was lost and will be lost, and gently wonders about his own fragile time ticking away while preparing for more creative endeavors.
