About this app

Needs a Wear OS watch. The phone app is only the bridge to Health Connect.

How much did you really dance today?

Ballroom Dance Tracker reads the movement of your wrist to tell dancing from standing at the edge of the floor, a few seconds behind. At the end you know how long you danced, how long you paused and how much of the time was dancing.

Use this tracker wherever you dance: in class, at a practice evening, at a party or at home. Want it customized? Feel free to contact us.

Features:
- Pick what you dance: Standard + Latin, Standard, Latin, or a single dance – Foxtrot, Quickstep, Slow Foxtrot, Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Bachata, Cha-cha-cha, Jive, Paso Doble, Rumba, Salsa, Samba
- Every dance read its own way: pick the dance and the watch knows how much your arm moves in it – a jive swings it, a slow waltz in hold barely moves it
- The app remembers your last choice
- Time danced and time in breaks, told apart from your wrist's movement, no extra sensor needed
- Dancing share in percent and your longest dance without a break
- On the screen, two pages:
- time danced, heart rate (current and highest of the session), cadence, steps, breaks
- dancing share, longest dance, average heart rate, average cadence, total time
- Below them whether you are dancing or on a break right now, and for how long
- The time of day always in view at the top
- Heart rate from the watch's sensor, colored by heart rate zone
- Steps and cadence come from the watch's step counter: in a closed hold your arm hardly swings, so they count low
- No GPS, no location permission
- No tap ever starts or stops a session: press the side button or hold the screen for a second. While recording the back button does nothing, so a turn in hold does not end the lesson
- Summary after saving: time danced with the dance's name, breaks, dancing share, average and highest heart rate, steps, total time, longest dance, average cadence and calories
- History on the watch with your newest 100 sessions
- Available in 28 languages

Settings on the watch: your max heart rate for the zone colors.

How to use:
1. Open the app and pick what you dance
2. Press the side button or hold the screen for a second to begin the recording
3. Swipe up or down, or turn the bezel or crown, to switch between the two pages
4. Stop the same way you started
5. Choose Continue, Save or Discard

Settings and History: the "⋯" at the bottom of the first screen.

Works on the watch alone: your sessions stay on this watch. A small companion app for the phone comes with it. It writes each saved session to Health Connect on your phone and does nothing else. There a session appears as a dancing workout named after the dance you picked, with time danced and time in breaks in the notes. It is optional: the watch app works on its own, and neither app uses an internet connection. Your heart rate curve goes to Health Connect too. No ads, no subscription, no account.
